How Effective is the Sonet?
The Sonet is most effective for smaller spaces, such as individual offices and in spaces ranging from approximately 50 to 500 sq. ft. It uses new-patented digital "Qt Quiet" Technology, featuring dual-channel (stereo) masking. It targets the specific area of speech that is most effective in rendering speech unintelligible, while also helping to cover hundreds of other miscellaneous noises so common in an open environment floor plan.
What does the Sonet sound like?
Simply put, like the gentle whoosh of a high-quality HVAC system. Think of the fans in your computer- you hear them, but how often do you actually notice their noise? Similarly, the sound produced by the Sonet is absolutely constant and without structure, so the brain simply tunes it out.
Where can the Sonet be used?
The simplicity and effectiveness of the Sonet Personal Sound Masking System lends itself to numerous possible applications, such as:
*office cubicles
*enclosed offices or rooms
*hallways
*medical waiting rooms
*hotel rooms
*home
Why use the Sonet?
Here are a few reasons the Sonet System is the best on the market:
*Portable: If the office moves, the Sonet can move, too, just like other office accessories (and unlike an in-ceiling system, which becomes a permanent part of the building).
*Personal Sound Control: Individuals set their volume controls according to their own preferences, without disturbing neighbors.
*Flexible: Can be installed at any time-during build-out or in existing offices.
*Simple to Install, Simple to Move: Can be installed or moved in minutes with adhesive-backed Velcro pads; powered by any wall outlet.
*Expandable: Sonets are standalone - add any number of units at any time, as employees need them.
*Low Operating Cost: Because of its low power requirements, the Sonet System should be left on all of the time. Operating cost: less than a penny a day.
*High Quality: Designed, manufactured, and rigorously performance tested, based on decades of experience in acoustic design and sound-masking implementation.
*Warranty: Three-year dealer-supported warranty on all components.
How is the Sonet installed and used?
The objective in individual cubicles is to surround the occupant with sound masking protection by placing the emitters symmetric to the working position-head height, with an approximate 18-36" separation. For best results, keep the emitters within the user’s line-of-sight (not obstructed by shelves or other items).
The objective for closed offices or rooms is to fill the room with sound masking protection so that intruding voices and noises from surrounding areas will be virtually eliminated. This can be accomplished by placing the speakers around the room just below the ceiling, just above the floor, or on posts or other convenient structures.
We also recommend that you initially set the volume at a comfortable level, even if it doesn’t seem to provide the desired level of privacy. The ear will quickly become accustomed to the new sound, and you can gradually increase the volume as needed to increase privacy.
**For offices larger than 120 sq ft**: You'll need to expand your Sonet by one speaker for every 75 sq ft.
