Frequently Asked QuestionsInstalling the VoiceArrest System
Are there any special tools required for proper installation? The only tool needed to install the VoiceArrest System is an electric or cordless 3/8” drill.
What is the maximum cable length on any run of emitters? No individual run of emitters should exceed 1008 ft of cable.
What type of cable is used to interconnect the emitters?Plenum-rated Cat-3 network cable wired to EIA-T568B specifications.
Each emitter comes with one 16 ft. cable with RJ-45 plugs terminated on each end.
Must separate Control Modules be used in Open Office vs. Enclosed Office areas?Yes. Enclosed areas of 600 sq. ft. or less experience reverberant gain, thereby amplifying the masking sound by 2 to 3 dBA. If a single Control Module were used, masking delivered to an open area at an appropriate level would build to excessive levels in the enclosed office areas.
Will it hurt the system to have the Control Module on while installing the emitters.No. As a matter of fact, this is the correct way to install the system. This way, correct operation of each emitter can be verified as they are installed and any problem can be addressed without having to go back and troubleshoot the entire installation.
Does this system have to be installed by a electrician?Since the VoiceArrest is a low-voltage system, most areas don't require that licensed personnel do the installation. However, it is important to check your local codes, since some areas may require either a licensed low-voltage installer or electrician.
